According to a report by the American Axios news website on July 29, Ukrainian President Zelensky stated in an interview with the media on the 28th that to counter Russia's attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, he has requested U.S. President Trump to urgently provide "winter aid," including 300 "Patriot" air defense system interceptors.

Zelensky indicated that he made this request to Trump during his visit to the U.S. because Ukraine's current stockpile of air defense system interceptors is nearly depleted. If it cannot be replenished before winter arrives, Russian missile strikes could destroy Ukraine's power facilities, affecting heating for the Ukrainian people.

He revealed that Trump "agreed to move forward" with granting production licenses for the "Patriot" air defense system interceptors during their meeting at the White House on the 28th. However, Zelensky stated that even if U.S. permission is obtained, it would take 1 to 5 years to achieve mass production, so he hopes that the U.S. can provide 300 "Patriot" interceptors before winter arrives.

Zelensky said that although Trump promised to do his best to provide assistance, he also made it clear that it is "not easy" to provide relevant aid to Ukraine, as the U.S. also needs interceptors for its military operations against Iran.

According to reports, Trump held a closed-door meeting with the visiting Zelensky at the White House on the morning of the 28th. Afterward, Zelensky stated that the two sides discussed issues such as Ukraine's production of "Patriot" air defense system interceptors and the need to revive diplomatic efforts to end the Ukraine crisis.
