Israeli protected 4x4 based on a commercial truck chassis
mediumThe Wolf was created to provide protected mobility without the cost and weight of heavier armored personnel carriers.
The Wolf Armoured Vehicle was developed in Israel by Hatehof, later Carmor, as a protected 4x4 vehicle using a Ford F-550 commercial chassis as its base. This approach allowed Israeli users to field a protected patrol and transport vehicle with lower cost and easier automotive support than a purpose-built heavy APC. The vehicle was intended for internal security, border operations, patrol, and troop transport in environments threatened by small arms, fragments, mines, and improvised explosive devices.
