Merkava Mk 4

The Merkava Mk 4 is the mature fourth-generation form of Israel’s indigenous tank family. The Merkava program grew from a strategic need for local armored-vehicle production and a design philosophy centered on crew survivability. Its front-engine layout, rear access and heavy protection reflect Israeli operational priorities rather than copying NATO or Soviet tank architecture.
