The P-19 Danube, NATO reporting name Flat Face B, was developed as a Soviet mobile two-coordinate radar for air-defense target acquisition. It followed earlier Flat Face family radars and was used with systems such as SA-2, SA-3, and SA-5 environments depending on operator integration. The radar entered service as part of a broader Soviet pattern: mobile sensors, command posts, height-finders, and missile batteries combined into layered air-defense networks. Its development made older SAM systems more mobile and better supported by deployable search radar coverage.
