The Saxon AT105 was a British wheeled armored personnel carrier developed by GKN Sankey as a relatively low-cost protected mobility vehicle. It was designed more for troop movement on roads and rear-area security than for direct IFV-style combat.
Saxon used a 4x4 truck-derived chassis with armored protection against small-arms fire and fragments. Its strengths were cost, simplicity, and road mobility, while its limitations were off-road performance and protection compared with heavier APCs.
The vehicle suited British Army plans to move infantry rapidly across Europe in a reinforcement role. After British service, Saxons appeared in several export and aid contexts, where basic protected mobility was more important than heavy armor or advanced weapon systems.
