Long-range Soviet 152 mm self-propelled gun
Giatsint-S brought long-range 152 mm fire to a self-propelled Soviet platform.
2S5 Giatsint-S was developed as the self-propelled counterpart to the 152 mm Giatsint artillery family, entering Soviet service before later systems such as Msta-S. Its purpose was long-range fire against targets beyond the reach of many older divisional guns. The design reflects a Cold War emphasis on range, high muzzle velocity, and heavy artillery support.
