Sky Bow III, also known as Tien Kung III, is a Taiwanese surface-to-air and missile-defense system developed by the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology. It is a central domestic layer in Taiwan's air-defense network.
Sky Bow III improves on earlier Sky Bow systems with a stronger role against high-speed aerial threats and tactical ballistic missiles. Its value comes from integration with Taiwan's sensors, command networks, and hardened air-defense posture.
The system is strategically important because Taiwan must defend fixed bases, cities, and command infrastructure under missile and air attack pressure. Domestic Sky Bow production reduces reliance on foreign supply during a crisis and supports ongoing upgrade programs.
