M-72 LAW

The M72 LAW is a portable, single-shot anti-armor rocket launcher introduced during the Cold War. Its telescoping launch tube and disposable design made it simple to issue widely to infantry, vehicle crews, and support troops.

LAW is unguided, so effectiveness depends on range, target aspect, and shooter skill. It was originally aimed at light armor and older tanks, but later service use often emphasized bunkers, buildings, soft vehicles, and emergency anti-armor defense.

Although more powerful weapons such as AT4 and guided missiles reduced its anti-tank relevance, the M72 family stayed useful because it is compact, inexpensive, and easy to carry in numbers. Modern variants continue to serve in multipurpose infantry support roles.
