Development history
mediumT30 was the 155 mm gun branch of the late-war U.S. heavy-tank experiment family.
The T30 Heavy Tank was developed alongside the T29 as part of the U.S. Army's late-war response to heavily armored enemy vehicles. It used the same general heavy-tank family concept but replaced the T29's 105 mm gun with a much larger 155 mm T7 gun. Like the T29, it arrived too late for World War II combat and became primarily a postwar experimental vehicle.
