Sun Wantong, born in 1994, joined the police force in 2014, and is currently the squad leader of the "Eagle" Assault Team, Second Squad of the Public Security Bureau of Hohhot. Over her 11 years in the police force, from a naive police academy graduate to a renowned SWAT elite, she has written a story of loyalty and responsibility for female police officers with countless sweat and perseverance.

"Veteran" and 50,000 rounds of ammunition

"My hands no longer look like a girl's hands." Sun Wantong extends her right hand, and the calluses on her thumb joint are particularly noticeable. These are the marks left by years of holding a gun and pulling the trigger tens of thousands of times.

For female SWAT officers, mastering firearms and achieving a unity of person and gun requires unimaginable effort. In 2015, due to her outstanding performance, Sun Wantong was selected by the instructor team, thus beginning her inseparable bond with practical police training and competition.

In 2017, she ranked first in the women's group of the police practical training instructor assessment competition in the region; in 2018, she ranked first in the women's group of the situational simulation shooting competition; in 2019, she placed second in the individual category during the police competition exchange between the three northeastern provinces and the Russian Far East...

Behind a series of dazzling honors is the relentless grind day after day.

When encountering training bottlenecks, she has her own "clumsy method": counting grains of rice, practicing calligraphy with focus, stacking bullet casings, refining her temperament and honing her patience through constant repetition. "Failure is not scary; what is scary is losing the courage to turn setbacks into strength."

Now, she has reached the realm of "unity of person and gun." Disassembling a Type 92 pistol takes her less than 5 seconds, precise and skilled, as fast as lightning.

Sharpening swords on the competition field and showcasing skills in real combat

Hitting the target from a hundred steps away in competition, striking the enemy in one blow in real combat. Sun Wantong has always had a clear understanding of the SWAT mission: "A qualified SWAT officer needs to undergo comprehensive tests in physical fitness, skills, psychology, and real combat. They must endure the hardships of training and bear the responsibilities of real combat."

In September 2023, a major criminal case occurred at a construction site in Hohhot. The 260,000 square meter site had a complex terrain, making nighttime searches extremely difficult. Sun Wantong and her team set out overnight to conduct a "carpet-style" search, leaving no stone unturned and fighting continuously until dawn, successfully capturing the criminal suspect.

In April 2024, facing a suspect attempting to jump off a building, Sun Wantong charged forward; whether dealing with violent incidents, major security tasks, or emergency responses, her resolute and brave figure is everywhere.

Sun Wantong admits: "Many jobs are tedious and dangerous, but someone has to carry the burden and move forward!"

SWAT elite and practical training instructor

In addition to being a SWAT elite, Sun Wantong has another important identity—practical training instructor.

As a blue army instructor for the Inner Mongolia Public Security Department and a mid-level practical training instructor in Hohhot, she has been deeply involved in teaching since 2015, training over 10,000 police officers and auxiliary police. She meticulously prepares practical courses on police communication, emergency first aid, and standardized firearm use, sharing her competition experience and practical insights without reservation.

In September 2024, she was invited to conduct specialized training on capture tactics using nets, guns, shields, and batons for the police and auxiliary police of the Hohhot subway. From demonstrating stances to correcting movements, she taught hands-on, significantly enhancing the subway police's counter-terrorism and riot control capabilities.

On the eve of the 2025 Inner Mongolia Public Security SWAT Challenge, Sun Wantong served as the overall leader for the pistol events. Leading the team to win multiple first places, she helped the Hohhot representative team secure the overall championship.

Currently, the spring training for 2026 is in full swing, and on the training ground, Sun Wantong demonstrates earnestly and guides carefully, just as she does in real combat situations with calmness and decisiveness. 11 years of youth, 50,000 rounds of ammunition, is her solid foundation for safeguarding the peace of countless families.
