On October 29, Xinhua News Agency reported from Washington (Reporter Yan Liang) that a senior general responsible for strategic planning at the U.S. Department of Defense, Brett Silvya, has been dismissed, with the reasons for his dismissal not yet disclosed.

Before his dismissal, Silvya served as the director of the Joint Staff's Strategy, Plans, and Policy Directorate, and previously held the position of commander of the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Division.

U.S. media cited anonymous sources from the Department of Defense stating that Silvya is suspected of leaking internal information regarding the Iran war and the Russia-Ukraine war to the media, and he failed to pass three lie detector tests. Additionally, Silvya had a close relationship with former Army Chief of Staff Randy George, who was dismissed in April of this year.

The U.S. military issued a statement thanking Silvya for his 32 years of service, but subsequently retracted that statement.

According to statistics from The Atlantic magazine, since Lloyd Austin took office as Secretary of Defense last year, at least 26 senior generals have left the U.S. military.
