In early September EDR On-Line was invited by PAIH (Polska Agencja Inwestycji i Handlu S.A.), the Polish Investment & Trade Agency, to a Study Tour on Polish Defence Industry. The mission of PAIH is to support small and medium enterprises especially in exporting their products, promote Polish brands abroad, support national companies on foreign markets and promote Polish economy and companies as effective and valuable partners.
The tour included some of the relevant Polish defence companies, as well as a visit to MSPO (Międzynarodowy Salon Przmyslo Obronnego, International Defence Industry Exhibition) which took place in Kielce 8-11 September. Here, apart from witnessing the unveiling of new systems, EDR On-Line had the chance to talk to relevant representatives from the two major defence groups in Poland, PGZ and WB, from the Polish leading space company, Creotech, and from the Polish Dual Use Chamber, a recently formed entity which aims at facilitating contacts among dual-use companies within the Polish and the European defence ecosystem.
It was a good opportunity to visit some of the companies’ facilities, discussing topics related to technology, production, supply chain and so on, while touching first hand some new products.
The tour included visits to the facilities of Fabryka Broni, the national champion in production of handguns and assault rifles, Borimex, the producer of mechanical components as well as of suppressors for small arms, Diskus, which manufactures cybersecurity hardware, and PKTK (Polski Klaster Technologii Kompozytowych), the Polish platform that puts together industry, Academia and business, to develop advanced composite materials.
The tour allowed EDR On-Line to touch base with major groups, public and private, SMEs, and Academia, the three elements that form the Polish defence industry ecosystem. Reports on the visits and on new systems seen at MSPO follow hereafter.
