Artillery Unit Live-Fire Shooting Assessment: Testing Firepower Strike Capability in Complex Environments

Recently, a certain brigade of the 71st Group Army organized a realistic combat assessment at a comprehensive training ground in eastern Anhui, testing the artillery unit's fire strike capability in complex environments.

At the beginning of the assessment, the artillery unit quickly maneuvered to the task area according to the predetermined plan, needing to respond promptly to enemy aerial reconnaissance and traverse areas under artillery fire. Upon arriving at the task area, the officers and soldiers rapidly set up artillery positions and unsealed ammunition for shooting preparations. After receiving target instructions from the command post, the officers and soldiers quickly completed operations such as ammunition loading, target searching, range finding, aiming, and compiling shooting parameters independently.

After several rounds of strikes, the target was successfully eliminated.

This not only tests the professional capabilities of each member of the artillery team but also examines their ability to coordinate and cooperate. Only when each member performs their duties and works closely together can they achieve a precise hit and defeat the enemy.

According to the instructions, after completing the first round of strike tasks, the artillery unit quickly moved to the reserve position to launch a new round of fire strikes. At this time, the command post indicated that the target was beyond the optimal visible range for direct fire. The on-site commander adjusted the firing method from direct fire to semi-direct fire based on the target distance. Each artillery team quickly adjusted their tactics, closely coordinated, and recompiled shooting parameters to strike the target.

Brigade of the 71st Group Army, Wang Peng: Compared to direct fire, semi-direct fire requires slightly elevating the gun barrel to extend the strike range, achieving precise strikes against the enemy at medium to long distances. The flexible switching between the two firing methods can effectively respond to different battlefield enemy situations, addressing the shortcomings in the connection of firepower at varying distances.

This live-fire shooting assessment adopted a method of "simultaneous research and training, combined training and assessment, and live-fire verification," focusing on testing single-gun precision shooting, team coordination, and on-the-spot tactical adjustments.
