Attack on Ras Laffan Industrial City in Qatar
Xinhua News Agency, Doha, March 18 (Reporter Wang Qiang) The Qatari Ministry of Interior and Qatar Energy Company stated on the 18th that a fire broke out in the Ras Laffan Industrial City due to a missile attack from Iran, causing extensive damage, with no reports of casualties so far.
According to Al Jazeera, Ras Laffan Industrial City is home to the world's largest liquefied natural gas production facility.
The Qatari Ministry of Defense reported that Qatar was hit by five ballistic missiles from Iran that day, intercepting four of them, while another one fell into Ras Laffan Industrial City and caused a fire. The civil defense department stated that the fire has been brought under control.
The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement condemning Iran's attack on Ras Laffan Industrial City, calling it a serious escalation.
Earlier on the 18th, Iranian media reported that some petrochemical facilities in the southern Pars and Assaluyeh regions of Bushehr Province were attacked by the United States and Israel. The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps subsequently issued an urgent warning that the energy facilities of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar have become "legitimate targets for strikes."
