China Coast Guard Successfully Completes 2026 North Pacific High Seas Fisheries Law Enforcement Patrol Mission

Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, September 9 (Sun Chongfeng, Xu Fuze) The fleet composed of the Chinese Coast Guard ships Changshan and Wuhu successfully completed the 2026 North Pacific high seas fishery law enforcement patrol mission on the morning of the 9th and returned to port smoothly. This is the 11th patrol conducted by the Chinese Coast Guard in the North Pacific high seas.

During the patrol, the Chinese Coast Guard fleet increased the promotion of high seas fishery laws and regulations and conservation management measures in accordance with relevant United Nations General Assembly resolutions and the "Convention on the Conservation and Management of High Seas Fishery Resources in the North Pacific," strengthened the inspection and supervision of operating fishing vessels, and ensured the verification of registered fishing vessel information for regional fishery management. A total of 95 foreign fishing vessels were observed and recorded, 20 were boarded for inspection, and 7 helicopter flights conducted law enforcement over the high seas, effectively fulfilling high seas law enforcement responsibilities and maintaining the order of fishery production in the North Pacific.

This patrol lasted 45 days, covering more than 19,800 nautical miles and taking over 2,100 hours. In the next steps, the Chinese Coast Guard will continue to carry out high seas fishery law enforcement patrols, actively fulfill its obligations under the convention, and play its due role in effectively maintaining the order of fishery production in the high seas.
