On the 12th, the "Peace Train-2026" humanitarian medical rescue joint exercise between China and Laos entered the full-process drill stage in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, with a rescue operation closely aligned with real combat progressing in a tense and orderly manner.
"Commanders of the medical support teams from China and Laos, a large number of injured and sick individuals have been found in the area. Please immediately rush to the disaster site to carry out search and rescue and prepare for the treatment of the injured!" The forward joint command issued the order, and Chinese director team member Fu Lei closely monitored the command screen, assessing the situation in real-time.
The joint search and rescue team arrived at the disaster site equipped with drones, robotic dogs, and other equipment. Participating team member Tu Long accurately located the injured based on information relayed from unmanned devices, coordinating with the mixed Chinese-Laotian search and rescue team for on-site handling.
"We have found 20 injured individuals, including 1 in critical condition!" The joint search and rescue team and the joint medical team worked closely together, employing a combination of unmanned transport vehicles for emergency evacuation and field ambulances and patient transport vehicles for front-line reception to treat a large number of injured. Medical support officer Xu Wen and team members checked the handover forms one by one, quickly registered information, and checked vital signs, efficiently completing triage according to injury labels and swiftly organizing evacuation.
Inside the field medical tent, a heavy injury treatment team composed of both Chinese and Laotian personnel raced against time to provide emergency care for a patient buried under rubble for 26 hours. The remaining patients, after stabilization treatment, were orderly evacuated to the medical train. It is understood that the medical train, for the first time, relied on a self-developed command decision-making system for patient treatment, deeply integrating AI large model technology into the entire treatment process, providing precise and intelligent suggestions for command dispatch, triage, and treatment plans, achieving full-process information management from patient admission to handling.
In the operating room of the medical train, medical staff from both China and Laos were performing exploratory laparotomy on a patient with severe abdominal injuries. "There is a large amount of bleeding in the abdominal cavity, initiate the rescue plan!" Chief surgeon Ma Dan quickly suctioned the accumulated blood, located the rupture of the spleen, and Laotian assistant Weerapun quickly assisted in packing and applying pressure to stop the bleeding. Anesthesiologist Huang Jing, circulating nurse Zeng Qinya, and instrument nurse Tang Ling closely coordinated. Three minutes later, the bleeding was controlled, and the patient was immediately transferred to the critical care unit of the medical train for further treatment.
The critical care unit, serving as the "mobile ICU" of the medical train, is equipped with 10 sets of electric double-deck adjustable hospital beds, as well as mobile ventilators, portable ultrasound, and ECG monitoring equipment, capable of treating 21 moderately to severely injured patients. Ma Dan stated: "We have extended the treatment chain from the injury collection point and field medical tent to the medical train's treatment compartment, focusing on practicing the seamless connection of anesthesia, surgery, and critical care under real combat conditions, exploring valuable experience for both China and Laos in responding to natural disasters and the emergency treatment of large numbers of injured."
Deputy leader of the "Peace Train" medical team Wu Jiajia expressed that during the continuous organization of the full-element, full-process drill, all links were closely connected, and the treatment was precise and efficient. The participating team members from both sides enhanced their tacit understanding through practical training, effectively improving coordination and medical support capabilities.
After the drill concluded, participants immediately began a review, adjusting and standardizing various operations, further refining the medical support coordination mechanism between the two militaries, laying a solid foundation for subsequent formal exercises.
