Despite the doubts, the Philippine Presidential Palace surprisingly supports the Defense Secretary's extreme remarks.

The Philippine Star reported on the 2nd with this headline regarding the extreme remarks made by Defense Secretary Teodoro. Even more shocking is that the Philippine presidential palace, on the 3rd, not only did not cool down the controversy but openly supported Teodoro. Chinese experts interviewed by the Global Times on the 3rd criticized that the remarks of Philippine officials are politically arrogant and immature. Some analysts also stated that by inciting a domestic anti-China atmosphere in a manner resembling political bullying, the Philippines can only suffer the consequences.

On June 11, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on its website that Teodoro had repeatedly made fallacious remarks regarding China, harming China's legitimate interests and undermining China-Philippines relations. To safeguard China's national sovereignty, security, and development interests, China decided to prohibit Teodoro and his spouse and children from entering mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau, and to prohibit organizations and individuals within China from engaging in any transactions or cooperation with Teodoro and his spouse and children. Subsequently, a spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs explicitly pointed out that Teodoro is a representative figure of a small group of "hysterical, anti-China elements" within the Philippines.

According to the Philippine Star report on the 2nd, this "representative figure" recently claimed at an event that if officials, especially elected officials, cannot maintain a consistent stance with the country and "favor China" on the South China Sea issue, they should either resign or be ruled as "illegal" by the Supreme Court. This statement sparked controversy within the Philippines. The Sun Star, based in Davao City, reported that Congressman Paolo Duterte from Davao City's first district criticized Teodoro's remarks, stating that the authority of elected officials comes from the Filipino people and that they should not be asked to resign without evidence of wrongdoing. He also urged Teodoro to focus on strengthening national defense rather than questioning the patriotism of those with differing opinions.

Multiple Philippine media outlets reported on the 3rd that Teodoro's remarks received support from the Philippine presidential palace. The Philippine Daily Inquirer stated that presidential spokesperson Castro declared at a press conference, "The president and the government believe there is nothing wrong with Teodoro's words. This is a patriotic expression." Reports indicate that she even called for Philippine officials who support China's position on the South China Sea issue to "step forward."

Chen Xiangmiao, a researcher at the South China Sea Institute, stated in an interview with the Global Times on the 3rd that Teodoro's public demand for officials who supposedly "favor China" on the South China Sea issue to resign, in his capacity as the Philippine Secretary of National Defense, is rude, impulsive, and highly provocative.

Chen Xiangmiao analyzed that Teodoro's remarks conceal multiple dangerous logics. His statements equate to asserting that there is no room for negotiation between China and the Philippines on the South China Sea issue, effectively positioning China as an adversary of the Philippines, "This is typical political arrogance and a very immature political behavior."       

In response to the remarks from the Philippine presidential palace, Chen Xiangmiao stated that continuously amplifying confrontation will only increase concerns across various sectors of Philippine society, worrying that the government is pushing the country towards a dangerous situation of confrontation with major powers.
