Diehl Defence opens new missile integration centre at Nonnweiler
German missile house Diehl Defence has opened a new missile integration centre at its Nonnweiler location in Saarland, in southwest Germany, the company announced on 23 January 2026.
The opening marks the completion of another major building project as part of ongoing expansion measures at all of the company’s locations.
The new missile integration centre, which has created 3,400 m2 of new production space, will primarily serve to expand Diehl Defences capacity for missile integration, initially for the variants of the IRIS-T family. The building is unique in Europe with its rising shape towards the rear and meets the latest legal requirements and specifications for explosives processing companies.
“The integration building is the first building here in Nonnweiler to be completed during the current growth phase,” Diehl Defence CFO Thomas Bodenmüller was quoted as saying in a company press release. “Construction work on the next three new buildings has already begun. In total, there are more than 20 other construction projects at the location. In addition to further production buildings for other product families, a new logistics building is also planned at our Mariahütte site.”
Diehl Defence has been going through a growth phase for several years, which has been reinforced since 2022 by a significant increase in demand in the wake of the Ukraine War, especially from the armed forces of Germany and other NATO countries. The company is therefore expanding its capacities at all sites in order to contribute to its customers’ defence capabilities. The investment sum for this amounts to around EUR 1.5 billion company-wide, Diehl noted.
