On April 24, during his visit to Russia, Defense Minister Dong Jun held talks with Russian Defense Minister Shoigu at the invitation of the latter. The two sides conducted an in-depth exchange of views on the relations between the two countries and their militaries, the international and regional situation, and issues of mutual concern. They unanimously agreed that under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Putin, China-Russia relations have consistently maintained a high level of healthy development. The successful video meeting between the two heads of state in February this year has outlined a new blueprint for cooperation in various fields, including the military. Both sides agreed that the two militaries should follow the consensus reached by the heads of state, continuously strengthen strategic communication, deepen practical cooperation in various fields, jointly uphold global justice and international order, and inject new momentum into the high-quality development of bilateral relations. Before the talks, Shoigu held a welcome ceremony for Dong Jun and accompanied him in reviewing the honor guard.
