Finland and Sweden acquire the first Patria TRACKX tracked vehicles

Finland and Sweden have proceeded with the procurement of armoured Patria TRACKX tracked vehicles. Under the procurements, Finland will acquire Patria TRACKX vehicles, together with related support arrangements. In addition, Finland and Patria have signed a Letter of Intent concerning potential future serial deliveries. Sweden will acquire tracked vehicles for testing and evaluation purposes.

Deliveries of the vehicles will begin in 2027. Following delivery, both countries will conduct national field trials and evaluations to assess the vehicles’ suitability for operational use. In addition, part of the testing is expected to be conducted jointly between the nations.

“The transition from development to procurements is an important milestone for Patria TRACKX. It allows Finland and Sweden to begin comprehensive field testing of the vehicle while strengthening cooperation on a common tracked mobility capability. We see strong potential for broader multinational cooperation around a common tracked vehicle platform. We are strengthening our production and delivery capabilities with the aim of commencing Patria TRACKX deliveries to also other customer nations in 2027,” says Jussi Järvinen, Executive Vice President of Patria’s Protected Mobility business area.

The procurement phase builds on the Implementation Arrangement signed by the Finnish Defence Forces and the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) at the Eurosatory exhibition in June 2026, which guides cooperation between the countries during the initial procurement and testing phase of the Patria TRACKX tracked vehicle. Together with the Statement of Intent signed by Finland, Norway and Latvia at the NATO Summit in July 2026, it supports the development of broader multinational cooperation around a common tracked vehicle platform.

The Patria TRACKX tracked armoured personnel carrier has been developed as part of the multinational FAMOUS programme co-funded by the European Defence Fund (EDF). The development delivers a vehicle with ballistic protection, high road mobility, and the ability to operate effectively in demanding environments, including soft terrains, from deep snow and marshes to desert sand dunes. Patria TRACKX combines the best features of wheeled and traditional tracked vehicles, delivering unmatched operational freedom to maneuver anytime and anywhere ‒ across all seasons, terrains, and conditions.
