The Evidence Exhibition Hall of the Japanese Army's Unit 731, which invaded China, disclosed newly organized historical evidence on August 12. The oral testimony of medic Gu Zaki and others from the original 731 Unit Hailar Detachment (Manchukuo Unit 543) lasted 70 minutes, confirming that the Japanese army buried a large number of gas bombs in China on the eve of their defeat. This provides oral evidence from the perpetrators for further research on the issue of Japan's abandoned chemical weapons.

This testimony was collected during the exhibition hall's evidence-gathering trip to Japan in 2016. The interviewee Gu Zaki, originally named Ozaki, candidly stated in the video that he was 21 years old when he enlisted, had previously assisted a doctor, and attended a night commercial school. He recounted his experiences in Unit 731, such as undergoing three months of training upon enlistment, practicing daily with covered glass petri dishes to prepare culture media, then inoculating them with bacteria, and placing them in an incubator until visible colonies formed.

Later, while responsible for managing the breeding of wild mice, Gu Zaki had to record the number of male and female wild mice that gave birth and died. He often carried a shovel and ventured into the trenches to dig holes and capture wild mice.

Importantly, Gu Zaki revealed the fact that the Japanese army destroyed evidence and buried gas bombs at the time of their defeat. He confirmed that during the retreat, the Hailar Detachment set fire to and destroyed all military facilities, but the Japanese gas troops secretly buried a large number of gas bombs. He stated, “That was not bacteria, but gas,” and “The gas troops did exist, established in the area of Fularji.”

Jin Shicheng, a researcher at the Evidence Exhibition Hall of the Japanese Army's Unit 731, stated that this oral testimony directly corroborates that the Japanese army abandoned chemical weapons in China at the time of their defeat, and explains the historical roots of the gas damage after the war, which has practical significance.
