From J-5 to J-10C: A Hardcore Upgrade of the August 1st Air Demonstration Team's Six Equipment Changes
During the 10th Singapore Airshow, the August 1st Air Demonstration Team of the Chinese Air Force made its overseas debut with the J-10C demonstration aircraft, stunning audiences over Changi. From the J-5, which was formed in 1962, to the current J-10C, the August 1st Air Demonstration Team has completed six upgrades.

This airshow marks the first appearance of the August 1st Air Demonstration Team with the J-10C demonstration aircraft after its upgrade.
The J-10C is an improved supersonic multirole fighter jet independently developed by China, featuring a canard and delta wing layout, which provides excellent lift characteristics. It has also significantly enhanced situational awareness and electronic countermeasure capabilities, equipped with an active phased array radar, and possesses advanced information integration and coordinated attack capabilities.
Based on the J-10C fighter jet, the J-10C demonstration aircraft has an enlarged spine, which increases fuel and smoke oil capacity, enhancing directional stability and better meeting the needs of flight demonstrations. The J-10C demonstration aircraft has a significant difference from the J-10C fighter jet, which is that the J-10C demonstration aircraft is not equipped with weapon pylons, fire control systems, or other combat equipment, allowing for maximum weight reduction, which is beneficial for performing high-maneuverability flight actions. However, the J-10C demonstration aircraft still retains the interfaces for the weapon systems, so it can be reverted back to a fighter jet configuration when needed.
Military expert Wang Mingzhi: The upgrade to the J-10C has strengthened two important characteristics of the flight demonstration aircraft: first, it is an advanced fighter jet independently developed in China, and second, it is one of the main battle aircraft equipped by the air force.
