Houthi Forces Claim Attack on Saudi Oil Facilities and Air Bases

The Houthi armed group stated on the 16th that Saudi Arabia launched multiple airstrikes against most provinces of Yemen this week. In response, the organization carried out missile and drone attacks that day, targeting a facility of an oil company in western Saudi Arabia and an airbase in southwestern Saudi Arabia.

On the 16th, the Houthi armed group reported that it used dozens of ballistic missiles and drones to attack a facility of Saudi Aramco in the western Saudi city of Yanbu, and also used several ballistic missiles to "accurately hit" an airbase in the Asir region of Khamis Mushait, located in southwestern Saudi Arabia near the Yemeni border.

The Houthi armed group stated that it would continue to take action against Saudi Arabia until the kingdom stops its airstrikes and lifts the blockade on the areas controlled by the Houthis in Yemen.

On the 16th, the Houthi armed group also reported that it shot down a Saudi F-15 fighter jet and an armed reconnaissance drone over Marib province in northeastern Yemen. The Houthi armed group claimed that its air defense system intercepted two batches of Saudi F-15 fighter jets over Taiz province in Yemen on the 16th. The Houthi armed group stated that these two batches of Saudi jets were intercepted and withdrew before carrying out any "hostile actions."

Additionally, Turki al-Maliki, spokesperson for the Saudi-led coalition, stated on the 16th that Saudi air defense forces intercepted and destroyed a Houthi drone heading towards the western Saudi city of Mecca on the evening of the 15th. Houthi political bureau member Asaad stated on the 16th that the Saudi claims were "lies."
