IDF strikes Hezbollah targets across Lebanon

Xinhua News Agency, Beirut, March 2 (Reporters Cao Changhao and Shen Feng) - In the early hours of the 2nd, Xinhua reporters heard continuous loud explosions in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued a statement saying they are striking Hezbollah targets throughout Lebanon.

According to a report by the Lebanese National News Agency on the 2nd, Israel launched an attack on the southern suburbs of Beirut in the early hours of that day.

The IDF later stated that they are targeting Hezbollah throughout Lebanon in response to Hezbollah's rocket fire towards Israel. The IDF will not allow Hezbollah to pose a threat to Israel's national security, nor will it allow them to harm civilians in northern Israel. The IDF is prepared for multi-front operations and to respond to any national security threats.

The statement also mentioned that the IDF conducted "precise" strikes in Beirut against several senior Hezbollah officials and targeted a core member of Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

According to a report by the Hezbollah-affiliated Al-Manar TV on the 2nd, Hezbollah issued a statement in the early hours of that day saying that in retaliation for the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei by the U.S. and in response to Israel's ongoing aggression against Lebanon, Hezbollah struck an IDF missile defense base located south of Haifa, Israel, using precision rockets and drones.
