Iran accuses the US of committing "unprecedented" war crimes by attacking universities.

On April 6 local time, Iran's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Iravani, sent a letter to the UN Secretary-General and the Security Council, formally protesting the military attack on Sharif University of Technology that occurred in the early hours of that day, accusing the United States and Israel of attacking Iranian educational institutions as an "unprecedented act of barbarism."

In the letter, Iravani detailed the damaged facilities: the College of Civil Engineering, the Department of Philosophy of Science, the Institute of Nano and Environmental Studies, the Fusion Research Building, the College of Electrical Engineering, and other facilities were severely damaged. He pointed out that this attack is not an isolated incident but a continuation of the attack on Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran on April 3, when facilities such as the Laser and Plasma Research Institute were severely damaged.

Iravani emphasized that deliberately attacking research institutions and universities is a clear violation of international humanitarian law and constitutes a war crime. This barbaric act is unprecedented and is part of a widely recognized and systematic policy publicly acknowledged by the President of the United States and the Prime Minister of Israel, posing a serious threat to international peace and security.
