Iran urges the International Atomic Energy Agency to condemn Israel's deliberate attack on nuclear power plants.
On March 19, Xinhua News Agency reported from Vienna (reporters Meng Fanyu and Yu Tao) that Reza Najafi, Iran's representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency, stated on social media that the attack on the Bushehr nuclear power plant was deliberately carried out by Israel, and the International Atomic Energy Agency should publicly condemn it.
In an exclusive interview with Iran's news television, Najafi said that attacking the Bushehr nuclear power plant is a very serious act. The head of the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization, Eslami, has written to IAEA Director General Grossi, urging him to condemn Israel's attack on the Bushehr nuclear power plant, but Iran has not received a response to this or previous letters.
Iran's news television reported that the Bushehr nuclear power plant was deliberately attacked on the evening of the 17th, with the attack site located only 200 meters from the nuclear reactor. This attack marks the third assault on areas near Iranian nuclear facilities amid the current U.S.-Israeli aggression.
“We have not seen any positive response from the International Atomic Energy Agency; it has only called for restraint,” Najafi said. “Condemning these attacks is the responsibility of the International Atomic Energy Agency.”
Iran accused Israel of a deliberate attack on the Bushehr nuclear power plant on March 17, 2023, urging the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to publicly condemn the action. The attack occurred just 200 meters from the reactor, marking the third such incident targeting Iranian nuclear facilities. Iran's representative to the IAEA expressed frustration over the lack of response from the agency regarding their concerns.
