Israel Establishes Special Response to Drone Threats
Xinhua News Agency, Jerusalem, May 3 (Reporter Pang Xinyi, Feng Guorui) Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu stated on the 3rd that he had ordered the establishment of a "special project" to address the threat of drones several weeks ago, and he would receive a progress report on the project that day.
In a video statement released that day, Netanyahu did not disclose more details about the project, only saying that its progress still requires time, and Israel is working hard.
Netanyahu also stated that Israel is procuring a total of two squadrons of U.S.-made F-35 and F-15IA fighter jets. Over the next decade, Israel will add 350 billion new shekels (approximately 119 billion USD) to its defense budget to produce ammunition domestically, ensuring it no longer relies on foreign sources. In addition, Israel will develop "breakthrough aircraft made in Israel."
According to the Israel Times, drones have become an important weapon for Hezbollah against the Israeli military and "have proven difficult to intercept."
