Israeli Airstrikes in Multiple Areas of Gaza Result in 5 Deaths, Son of Hamas Official Seriously Injured

Xinhua News Agency, Gaza, May 6 (Reporter Zhao Weihong) - Palestinian sources told Xinhua that the Israeli military launched a series of airstrikes on the Gaza Strip on the 6th, resulting in at least 5 deaths, including serious injuries to the son of senior Hamas official Khalil Hayya.

According to sources from the Gaza Strip's health department, on the evening of the 6th, an Israeli drone carried out an airstrike near a crowd at a bus station in the Jabalia area, north of Gaza City, resulting in at least one death and multiple injuries, among them, the son of Hamas chief negotiator Hayya, Azam, who is in critical condition.

Mahmoud Basal, a spokesperson for the Gaza Civil Defense Department, told Xinhua that the Israeli military also targeted tents housing displaced persons in the Zaitoun neighborhood southeast of Gaza City, resulting in the deaths of a family of three. Additionally, in the Mawasi area west of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, the Israeli military struck a civilian vehicle, resulting in one death and multiple injuries.

The Israeli military has not issued a statement regarding the aforementioned attacks.

On the evening of the 6th, Hamas issued a statement condemning the Israeli military's ongoing escalation of attacks against civilians in the Gaza Strip that day, openly violating the ceasefire agreement, international law, and humanitarian principles, continuing the genocidal war against the people of Gaza. The statement called on the United States, the guarantors of the ceasefire agreement, and relevant United Nations agencies to take immediate action to stop the Israeli military's violations of the agreement and ensure the safety of the Palestinian people.

Data released by the Gaza Strip's health department on the 6th indicated that since the ceasefire agreement took effect last October, more than 830 Palestinians have died as a result of Israeli military actions.
