Israeli Army Claims to Strike Armed Personnel in "Safe Zone" in Southern Lebanon
On June 23, Xinhua News Agency reported from Jerusalem (reporters Pang Xinyi and Chen Junqing) that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued a statement on the afternoon of the 23rd, saying that the IDF had earlier launched strikes against armed personnel in the so-called "security zone" it controls in southern Lebanon.
The statement said that the IDF discovered a group of armed personnel operating near IDF soldiers in the "security zone" in the Ali Tahrir Ridge area, and subsequently launched strikes against them. The statement did not mention any casualties resulting from this operation.
The statement also said that the IDF does not allow Hezbollah to harm Israeli soldiers and civilians, and "will continue to carry out operations" to eliminate "direct threats."
