Lebanese Government Forces Continue to Die in Airstrikes, Hezbollah Drones Inflict Casualties on Israeli Army
Xinhua News Agency, Beirut, April 30 (Reporter Shen Feng) The Lebanese military stated on April 30 that the Israeli military conducted an airstrike on a residential area in the village of Rumman in the Nabatiyeh region of southern Lebanon, resulting in the death of a Lebanese Armed Forces personnel and several of their family members. This marks the second consecutive day that Lebanese Armed Forces personnel have been killed in Israeli airstrikes.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health issued a statement saying that the Israeli military carried out multiple airstrikes on Nabatiyeh that day, resulting in at least 14 deaths and 22 injuries. The statement did not mention the deaths of the aforementioned Armed Forces personnel.
The Lebanese National News Agency reported that the Israeli military also launched over 70 airstrikes and artillery attacks on the southern Lebanese areas of Tyre and Bint Jbeil, causing severe damage to homes, infrastructure, and roads.
At midnight local time on April 17, a temporary ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel took effect for 10 days. U.S. President Trump announced on the 23rd that the ceasefire would be extended for three weeks. However, Israel continued to launch attacks, citing violations of the ceasefire agreement by Hezbollah, and dismantled and destroyed what it called Hezbollah's "military infrastructure" in the southern region it occupies. Data released earlier on the 30th by the Lebanese Ministry of Health indicated that since the resumption of hostilities on March 2, Israeli attacks on Lebanon have resulted in 2,586 deaths and 8,020 injuries.
On the same day, Hezbollah announced that it had targeted Israeli military forces at several locations in southern Lebanon using drones, in response to Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement and attacks on villages that resulted in civilian casualties. The Israeli military stated that a Hezbollah drone killed an Israeli soldier in the town of Kantarah in southern Lebanon that day, and a total of 15 soldiers were injured in drone attacks by Hezbollah.
According to Israeli media reports, Hezbollah has increasingly been using fiber-optic guided first-person view (FPV) drones, which can evade traditional electronic detection and interference, causing casualties to the Israeli military on several occasions.
