Lebanese President: Hostilities Will Only End When Conditions Such as Israeli Troop Withdrawal Are Met
Xinhua News Agency, Beirut, June 11 (Reporter Shen Feng, Cao Changhao) Lebanese President Aoun stated on the 11th that Lebanon will only end its state of hostility with Israel after conditions such as the withdrawal of Israeli troops and the cessation of attacks are fulfilled.
The Lebanese presidential office issued a statement on social media that Aoun expressed during a meeting with a delegation of Lebanese civil organizations that Lebanon will only end its state of hostility with Israel after the following conditions are met: the withdrawal of Israeli troops, the cessation of Israeli attacks, the deployment of the Lebanese army, the return of displaced persons, and the release of detained Lebanese individuals.
Aoun also stated that Lebanon will continue the current negotiations.
In addition, according to the Lebanese National News Agency, Israel launched a series of airstrikes on multiple locations in southern and eastern Lebanon that day, resulting in at least 10 deaths and multiple injuries.
The Lebanese Hezbollah issued a statement that day claiming it used drones to attack multiple Israeli military targets in southern Lebanon, including Israeli soldiers, Israeli "Merkava" tanks, and other military vehicles, as well as an artillery position.
Data released earlier that day by the Lebanese Ministry of Health indicated that since March 2, Israeli attacks on Lebanon have resulted in 3,711 deaths and 11,483 injuries.
Recently, under U.S. mediation, Israel and Lebanon have held direct contacts and negotiations on border security and other issues, but there are still significant differences between the two sides regarding the issue of Hezbollah's armed forces and ceasefire arrangements.
