Lebanon Condemns Israeli Attacks on Lebanon Violating Framework Agreement

Xinhua News Agency, Beirut, August 15 (Reporter Shen Feng, Cao Changhao) Lebanese President Aoun condemned the airstrikes launched by Israel in the southern region of Lebanon on the 15th, stating that the attacks violated the trilateral framework agreement between Lebanon, Israel, and the United States, as well as international law, resulting in the deaths of an entire family in Ansar village in the Nabatiyeh region.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health issued a statement saying that the Israeli military conducted airstrikes on Ansar village that day, causing 7 deaths and multiple injuries, among the deceased were 3 children and 2 women. The Israeli military also carried out airstrikes on the town of Deir Zahle in the Nabatiyeh region that day, resulting in 4 deaths and 17 injuries.

Aoun condemned Israel's ongoing attacks on southern Lebanon, particularly in Nabatiyeh and surrounding areas, in a statement issued from the Lebanese presidential palace, stating that Israel has repeatedly violated the framework agreement, the military coordination group mechanism, and international law protecting civilians.

Lebanese Prime Minister Salam also issued a statement that day condemning Israel's military escalation, stating that the attacks are undermining efforts to stabilize the situation in southern Lebanon. He emphasized that the safety of local residents and their right to live on their own land are "non-negotiable."

Hezbollah also issued a statement that day, calling on the Lebanese government to stop direct negotiations with Israel, to reassess relevant policies, and to take concrete measures to safeguard Lebanon's sovereignty and rights. (End)
