Macron said at a commemorative event: “This bill will double the budget of our armed forces starting in 2027 and increase military spending by 36 billion euros between 2026 and 2030.” He stated that he signed the bill after it was approved by the French Parliament and recognized by the courts.

Macron also said that the additional military spending will enable France to strengthen its cyber capabilities, drone capabilities, and overall innovation in the defense sector. “This will allow us to enhance our deep strike and missile defense capabilities, fully utilizing what we have learned from changes in warfare. France has a responsibility to protect its own security and to reinforce its commitments to other countries,” he added.
