Pakistan claims to have struck military facilities in Afghanistan

Xinhua News Agency, Islamabad, March 16 (Reporter Yang Kai) - The Pakistani Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issued a statement on the evening of the 16th, saying that the Pakistani military launched airstrikes that night, targeting military facilities and other objectives located in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, and Nangarhar Province in eastern Afghanistan.

The statement said that the targets of the strikes included technical equipment and ammunition depots, and that the operation was precise and conducted cautiously to avoid any collateral damage.

The statement also said that the claim by the Afghan government spokesperson that "the airstrikes hit a hospital in Kabul that provides rehabilitation treatment for drug addicts" is inconsistent with the facts and aims to mislead public opinion, covering up its support for cross-border terrorism.

From the night of February 26 to the early morning of the 27th, exchanges of fire occurred in the border areas between Afghanistan and Pakistan, with the Pakistani military conducting airstrikes on multiple locations in Kabul, Kandahar Province in the south, and Paktika Province in the east, rapidly escalating tensions between the two countries. Pakistani Defense Minister Asif announced the launch of an "open war" against Afghanistan.
