Patria has signed an agreement to deliver the Patria MUSCL passive radar system to an undisclosed European NATO member country. The delivery includes several sensor stations required for covering the large area of interest, spare parts and associated support and training services to ensure rapid operational deployment and capability development for the customer.

Patria has over 30 years of experience in the design, development and delivery of passive radio frequency sensor systems in intelligence, surveillance and electronic countermeasures domains. The contract further strengthens the company’s position as a leading provider of next-generation surveillance and situational awareness capabilities for modern armed forces.

”This agreement demonstrates the customer’s confidence in Patria and our market-leading passive sensor technology. Patria MUSCL delivers a unique combination of covert surveillance, operational flexibility and cost-effective performance. As military forces continue to strengthen their air defence and security capabilities, the demand for passive radar technologies that provide reliable early warning and support counter-UAS operations without revealing one’s own position is growing across Europe,” says Mikko Leino, Executive Vice President of Patria’s Defence and Weapon Systems business area.

Patria MUSCL is a transportable passive radar system that detects, tracks and reports aerial targets in real time. By utilising existing transmissions in the surrounding electromagnetic environment, the system provides military operators with enhanced situational awareness and supports air surveillance, early warning and counter-unmanned aircraft system (C-UAS) missions.

During Electronic Warfare Live (EWLive) 2026 event in Estonia on 15–17 September 2026, Patria will demonstrate an air surveillance mission in which the Patria MUSCL passive radar and Patria CATCHR ESM system will provide real-time situational awareness of the airspace over Estonia and southern Finland without transmitting any signals of their own.
