On the 5th local time, Russian President's Press Secretary Peskov stated in a program broadcast that day that the Ukrainian armed forces have intensified their attacks on Russian infrastructure due to the deteriorating situation at the front. The Russian military is establishing a security buffer zone at the border, and specific results are already visible. He also mentioned that the Russian military is steadily advancing in the special military operation area as planned.

Peskov stated that the EU's transformation into a military-political bloc has further exacerbated the situation regarding Ukraine. The Russian side hopes that the EU will not undermine the prospects for peace negotiations.

Peskov also expressed that Russia remains open to peace negotiations and looks forward to the United States playing a mediating role. Russia has always welcomed visits from U.S. President's Special Envoy Volker and Trump's son-in-law Kushner. Despite the prolonged absence of the two, Russia continues to maintain contact with the United States through existing channels. (CCTV reporter Wang Xinjun)
