Direct recruitment of military sergeants refers to the selection of sergeants for the military from graduates of ordinary higher education institutions who possess general professional skills applicable to both military and civilian sectors.

Recruitment Targets

Full-time graduates from ordinary higher education institutions, both current and past, whose majors meet the needs of the military, with an age limit of 24 years old (born after January 1, 2002). For full-time graduate students, the age limit is extended to 26 years old. Those whose majors have undergone vocational skill assessment at their ordinary higher education institutions should obtain a vocational qualification certificate at the intermediate level or above.

Recruitment Majors

According to preliminary statistics, the 2026 direct recruitment of military sergeants involves over 400 military-civilian common majors, including road transportation, automobile manufacturing, electronic information, communications, computer science, electromechanical equipment, machinery, and medicine.

Recruitment Steps

1. Starting from late March, eligible youth can begin pre-registration online.

2. In June and July, the Ministry of Defense's Recruitment Office will issue recruitment tasks to each province (autonomous region, municipality) based on the military's recruitment needs and the online pre-registration situation. Eligible youth can check whether their majors meet the provincial recruitment scope for military sergeants in 2026.

3. The online registration deadline is generally set for August 1. The physical examination and political assessment will be arranged by the recruitment offices below the provincial level.

Specific requirements and working hours are subject to actual policy notifications.

Registration Notes

(1) Basic Conditions

1. Height above 160 cm;

2. Uncorrected vision of 4.5 or above;

3. Weight must meet the following conditions and fasting blood sugar < 7.0 mmol/L to qualify.

(1) Male: 17.5 ≤ BMI < 30, where: 17.5 ≤ male physical condition soldier BMI < 27;

(2) BMI ≥ 28 must additionally check for glycosylated hemoglobin, with a percentage < 6.5% to qualify.

4. Those with the following conditions are advised not to register:

(1) Tattoos or scars on the face or neck longer than 3 cm, or tattoos with obscene, violent, or illegal organization symbols;

(2) Those with criminal records;

(3) Those with severe physical defects or disabilities;

(4) Those suffering from mental illnesses, AIDS and its virus carriers, malignant tumors, neurological diseases, and other serious illnesses.

Specific standards are based on the "Physical Examination Standards for Enlisted Citizens" and the "Political Assessment Regulations for Military Recruitment and Enrollment" and related regulations.

(2) Important Notes

1. This year's direct recruitment physical examinations and political assessments will start on August 1 and end on September 30. For specific scheduling, please consult the local military recruitment agency.

2. After completing online registration, please closely monitor the online review results, track the progress of your recruitment application, and maintain smooth communication. Participate in recruitment as required by the local military recruitment agency.

3. Due to the limitations of recruitment majors and plans, those who are not selected as direct recruitment candidates may still participate in the conscription for voluntary soldiers as arranged by the local military recruitment agency. (Source: China Military Number)
