Russia warns Japan to learn from history and not repeat past mistakes
On March 18, Xinhua News Agency reported from Moscow (Reporter Zhao Bing) that Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zakharova stated on the 18th that if Japan does not want to repeat past mistakes, it should learn from history and adhere to the pacifist provisions in the Japanese constitution.
During a regular press conference that day, Zakharova responded to a reporter's question, saying that Japan is continuing to advance its national "remilitarization" process, which includes the procurement of offensive weapons such as cruise missiles, and such equipment clearly does not fall under the category of defensive weapons.
Zakharova stated that Russia has repeatedly warned Japan that a significant increase in military spending would have destructive consequences, especially when used to procure weaponry that poses a potential threat to the security of Russia and other neighboring countries.
She noted that Japan's "remilitarization" policy has an extremely negative impact on regional and global stability, not only further exacerbating tensions in the Asia-Pacific region but also triggering a new round of arms races.
Zakharova emphasized that if Russian territory faces new missile threats, Russia will respond and take necessary measures to ensure national defense capabilities.
