Sources say the US aircraft carrier "Lincoln" has begun its return journey.
On August 20 local time, a source revealed that the U.S. Navy's USS Abraham Lincoln nuclear-powered aircraft carrier has begun its return journey. Previously, the USS George Washington aircraft carrier had arrived in the Middle East to alleviate the pressure from the long deployment of the Lincoln.
However, a U.S. official stated that the Lincoln is still within the operational area of the U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet, meaning it has not yet left the area of responsibility of the U.S. Central Command.
The Lincoln was deployed to the Middle East in January of this year to participate in U.S. military operations against Iran and the maritime blockade of Iran, having been deployed for over 250 days. Recently, it has been reported that sailors aboard the Lincoln are facing issues related to living conditions and mental health due to the high operational tempo and prolonged deployment.
