Xinhua News Agency, Helsinki, May 19 (Reporter Zhu Haochen, Zhang Yuliang) Stockholm news: The Swedish government announced on the 19th that it will purchase four new frigates from France. Swedish Prime Minister Kristersson stated that this will significantly enhance Sweden's air defense capabilities.

According to reports, Sweden will procure the "Defense and Intervention Frigates" produced by the French Naval Group. Compared to the current vessels of the Swedish Navy, the new ships are larger and equipped with capabilities to defend against enemy fighter jets and intercept ballistic missiles. The cost of each frigate is approximately 10 billion Swedish Krona (about 1.066 billion USD), with the first frigate expected to be delivered in 2030, followed by one ship delivered each year thereafter. Kristersson stated at a press conference that this is one of the largest defense investments Sweden has made since the 1980s.

French President Macron posted on social media that Sweden's procurement of warships from France reflects the "mutual trust between the two countries."
