当天21时，泰方从不明地点听到榴弹发射器声响，弹着点位于泰国边境一军营附近。随后，泰方观察到一束探照灯，并且看到一条类似激光指示器的直线光束指向泰国边境一军营。事件发生后，泰方鸣枪示警，之后枪声停止。
泰柬双方指挥官已协调解决该问题。由于该事件发生突然且毫无准备，泰国军方认为可能是由于柬埔寨士兵缺乏纪律所致。
