The 169th Joint Patrol and Law Enforcement Operation of China, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand on the Mekong River Launched
At 9 a.m. on September 21, the 169th Joint Patrol Law Enforcement Operation of China, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand on the Mekong River officially commenced. Before the operation, the law enforcement agencies of the four countries held a joint commanders' meeting and a multilateral information exchange meeting in Jinghong to discuss combating cross-border crime, information sharing, and other matters.
The Chinese vessels 53101, 53108, and 53109 set sail from the Jingha Police Dock in Xishuangbanna and formed a joint patrol law enforcement fleet after meeting with the Lao, Myanmar, and Thai parties. They will conduct segmented patrols and land-water joint inspections in key waterways, hazardous shoals, coastal docks, and tributary ferry crossings. The Chinese vessel 53108 will also be stationed at the Laos liaison point to conduct joint training with the law enforcement agencies of Laos and Myanmar in the waters from Thailand's Qingzheng to Myanmar's Solei.
During the operation, the fleet will closely monitor cross-border illegal activities, strengthen control over key water areas, and investigate potential safety hazards in the waterways, making every effort to maintain the safety of navigation and social stability in the Lancang-Mekong River basin.
