Xinhua News Agency, Jerusalem, May 31 (Reporter Pang Xinyi, Wang Zhuolun) The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated on May 31 that its ground forces have launched military operations in the southern Lebanese regions of Bofort Ridge and the Saluki River area. According to multiple Israeli media reports, the IDF has occupied the strategic location of Bofort Castle in southern Lebanon.

Photos released by the IDF on the same day show IDF soldiers entering Bofort Castle and conducting patrols. The IDF issued a statement saying that the operation has been ongoing for several days, with a large number of IDF ground forces launching offensive actions in the aforementioned areas, aiming to expand the "forward defense line."

Lebanese Culture Minister Salameh condemned on May 29 the recent Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon, which have put Lebanese cultural heritage sites, including Bofort Castle, in "serious danger."
