On March 18, Xinhua News Agency reported from Washington that White House Press Secretary Levitt stated that the U.S. is "keeping communication" with its allies in Europe and the Middle East, urging them to "increase efforts" to assist the U.S. in ensuring safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

Levitt told the media that day: "The President and his team, particularly Defense Secretary Hegseth and Secretary of State Rubio, are continuously communicating with their European counterparts and U.S. allies in the Arab and Gulf regions, urging these countries to increase their efforts to provide more assistance to the U.S. in ensuring the safety of the Strait of Hormuz."

Levitt stated that ensuring the safety of the Strait of Hormuz is more in the interest of U.S. allies than it is in the interest of the U.S.
