Transfer of Tasks for the 48th and 49th Naval Escort Task Forces
Recently, the 48th and 49th escort fleets of the Navy
held a ceremony for the handover of escort missions
at our support base in Djibouti
marking the official replacement of the 49th escort fleet
taking over the escort mission in the Gulf of Aden and the waters off Somalia
On September 5 local time
the two escort fleets held a separation ceremony in a certain area of the Gulf of Aden
the fleets formed into double columns cutting through the waves
leaving shining wake trails on the deep blue sea
The 48th escort fleet hoisted
the signal flags “LBT” (Wishing you excellent results) and
“LBM”
(Thank you for your care, wishing you and comrades good health)
The 49th escort fleet hoisted
the signal flags “LBU” (Wishing you and comrades a smooth journey to your destination)
and “LBS” (Wishing you a safe journey)
exchanging respect and best wishes
“Fleet 122, 172, separate course!”
As the commander of the 48th escort fleet
issued the separation order
the Tangshan and Kunming ships
each fired three green signal flares
and all ships simultaneously sounded their whistles
Subsequently, the two fleets turned left and right
in single file to make a 90-degree separation
After the handover ceremony
the 48th escort fleet will carry out follow-up missions
while the 49th escort fleet takes over the escort duties
The mission personnel unanimously stated
that they will resolutely safeguard the safety of international maritime passages
and maintain regional peace and stability
practicing the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind through concrete actions

the two fleets also organized joint escort and joint patrols
