Trump: Israeli Army Will Not Go to Beirut, Hezbollah Agrees to Ceasefire

On June 1, Xinhua News Agency reported from Washington (reporters Huang Qiang and Xu Jianmei) that U.S. President Trump stated on social media that he had communicated with both Israel and Hezbollah, confirming that Israel would not send troops to the Lebanese capital of Beirut, and Hezbollah also agreed to a ceasefire.

Trump mentioned that he had a "productive" phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, during which it was confirmed that Israel would not send troops to Beirut, and the troops that were en route have been withdrawn. He also stated that through high-level representatives' mediation, he had a good communication with Hezbollah, "They agreed to stop all firing—Israel will not attack them, and they will not attack Israel."

Trump later posted another message on social media stating that negotiations with Iran are "moving rapidly."

Earlier that day, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Katz issued a statement saying that, in light of Hezbollah's "repeated violations of the ceasefire agreement," they had ordered the Israeli military to carry out airstrikes on the Dahiyeh area of Beirut.

According to reports from Iranian media, a source close to the negotiation team indicated that due to Israel's ongoing military actions in Lebanon and Gaza, the Iranian negotiation team has suspended dialogue and text exchanges with the U.S. through intermediaries and plans to completely block the Strait of Hormuz.
