Trump says he has agreed to continue negotiations with Iran, Qatar representative goes to mediate in Iran.

On July 10, Xinhua News Agency reported from Washington (reporters Huang Qiang and Xu Jianmei) that U.S. President Trump stated on social media that the U.S. has agreed to Iran's proposal to continue negotiations, but the ceasefire has ended. Meanwhile, the Qatari negotiating representatives have gone to Iran to continue mediation.

Trump wrote: "Iran has requested the U.S. to continue 'negotiations,' and the U.S. has agreed to this proposal, but has made it clear to Iran that the ceasefire has ended."

In response, U.S. Central Command spokesman Tim Hawkins told the media, "There are currently no updates on combat operations." When asked if the end of the ceasefire meant a resumption of airstrikes, Hawkins said he would not predict subsequent actions.

On the 10th, CNN cited a knowledgeable diplomat as saying that the Qatari negotiating representatives have gone to Iran to meet with Iranian officials after coordinating with the U.S., aiming to ease tensions and create conditions for the resumption of U.S.-Iran negotiations. Additionally, a U.S. official stated that the U.S. military has adopted a "strike and pause" strategy, both to avoid escalation and to allow space for diplomatic efforts.

U.S. CBS reported, citing multiple sources, that the U.S. and Iran are still engaged in "active dialogue" through the mediator Qatar. Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif has been in communication with the Qatari Prime Minister and his team in recent days.

On the 8th, while attending the NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, Trump stated that he believes the memorandum of understanding reached between the U.S. and Iran "has ended," and he does not wish to deal with Iran any further, adding that the U.S. military "is likely to strike Iran hard again tonight." According to U.S. media reports on the 9th, he said during an interview with reporters on his way back to the U.S. after the NATO summit that Iran had called not long ago, expressing their eagerness to reach an agreement.

On the 7th and 8th, the U.S. launched military strikes against Iran for two consecutive days, citing the recent attacks on commercial ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz as the reason, while Iran launched missile and drone attacks against U.S. facilities in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and Jordan.
