On the 8th, Trump posted on social media: "This is a retaliation for Iran's bombing of vessels yesterday. If it happens again, the consequences will be much more serious!"

Previously, the U.S. Central Command announced on social media that the U.S. military had carried out more strikes against Iran that day to further weaken Iran's ability to threaten navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. This marked the second consecutive day that the U.S. military launched military strikes against Iran in response to Iran's recent attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

Earlier that day, while attending a NATO summit in Turkey, Trump expressed his displeasure with Iran, stating that the U.S. military "might" strike Iran hard again that night and might also reinstate a maritime blockade against Iran.

The U.S. Central Command stated on the 7th that the U.S. military had launched strikes against Iran that day, hitting over 80 targets, including Iran's air defense systems, command and control networks, coastal radar sites, anti-ship missile capabilities, and over 60 small fast boats of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
