Turkey's "Khan" Fighter Jet New Prototype Completes First Taxi Test
Xinhua News Agency, Istanbul, July 31 - According to a report from Turkey's state broadcaster TRT News Channel on July 31, the new prototype of Turkey's domestically produced fighter jet "Kahraman" recently completed its first taxi test.
The report stated that the two new prototypes have several design improvements, with one having entered the ground testing phase and successfully completing the taxi test.
The "Kahraman" fighter jet is developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries and successfully made its maiden flight on February 21, 2024. According to information disclosed by Turkish media, the "Kahraman" fighter jet is 21 meters long, 6 meters high, and has a wingspan of 14 meters, with a maximum speed of up to 2,210 kilometers per hour. This type of aircraft features a single-seat, twin-engine design and can carry 8 medium to long-range missiles, capable of operating in coordination with platforms such as drones and early warning aircraft.
The "Kahraman" fighter jet is seen as an important model for the Turkish Air Force to replace the current F-16 fighter jets, and it has garnered continuous attention from Turkish public opinion and the military industry in recent years.
