U.S. Defense Secretary: Costs of War Against Iran Have Reached $37.5 Billion
Xinhua News Agency, Washington, July 21 (Reporter Huang Qiang, Xu Jianmei) - U.S. Secretary of Defense Hagel said on the 21st that according to the Pentagon's latest estimates, the cost of the U.S. war against Iran has reached $37.5 billion.
During his testimony at a Senate Appropriations Committee hearing, Hagel stated that additional funding for the war in Iran is "urgent and necessary," otherwise "we will face a serious funding shortfall."
In May of this year, then-Acting Comptroller of the Department of Defense Jules Hurst testified at a congressional hearing that the U.S. cost of the war against Iran had reached $29 billion.
